Under way

Jávea

A villa of around 500 m² on a 2,000 m² plot in Jávea that we are rebuilding inside and out. A pool house is being added, with a walkway to the roof terrace. The work is under way; below is the design we are building towards.

Design of the pool side: an arched loggia above a natural stone base, the ridge behind it in evening light.

How it was

A dated villa with a closed-off plan, an ageing pool and grounds that were barely used. The photographs below are from before the works. What stood there was soundly built, which is also why we have been able to keep most of the shell.

Opened up to the south

The south façade has been opened up into a run of arches above a natural stone base. Behind it sit the living rooms, which now look out over the pool and the valley instead of a wall. It is the move the whole plan turns on.

The pool house and the walkway

Beside the main house comes a separate pool house with a pergola and a roof terrace on top. A walkway links that terrace to the west corner of the naya, so you move from house to terrace on one level without going down first. On the roof terrace comes an outdoor kitchen with a built-in barbecue and a paellero.

Materials that belong to the house

Inside we are working with travertine underfoot, lime plaster on the walls and timber in the joinery and slatted screens. These are materials that cope with this climate and that improve the longer they are in place. The interior design is by LUXV; we build it.

Where it stands now

Work began in 2026 and is currently under way. We deliberately give no completion date here: on a renovation of this size a programme shifts, and a date on a website is a promise. Once the house is finished, we will replace the design images above with photographs of the real thing.
